Dublin, GA – The City of Dublin is proud to announce it was awarded a Georgia ReLeaf Grant by the Georgia Tree Council, funded through the Georgia Forestry Commission and the USDA Forest Service.  The grant, originally awarded in August 2024, was created to help communities expand their tree canopy and improve the environment.

The tree giveaway event will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Stubbs Gym from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents of Dublin and Laurens County are encouraged to participate and receive free trees to plant on private property. The event will include a tree planting demonstration and expert tips on maintaining healthy trees.

“There are many positive things that trees bring to our community, especially for future generations.  Trees not only make our neighborhoods beautiful but help with pollution and stormwater issues,” said Community Development Coordinator Dorothy Rozier.  “We will have a drive-through option available during the giveaway event, as well as a volunteer planting team to assist residents that may not be able to plant the tree themselves.”

Trees available for the giveaway include 3 and 5-gallon sizes of willow oak, white oak, scarlet oak, tulip poplar, chinese pistache, summer red maple, and eastern redbud.

"This grant provides an opportunity for Dublin residents to receive some great trees to plant in their yards or at their businesses. For 25 years, Dublin has been named a 'Tree City USA.'. As a community, we're proud of all our beautiful trees. We have to keep planting to make sure that future generations can also enjoy a healthy and beautiful landscape," explains Mayor Joshua Kight.
