Tree Board
TREE BOARD by Mayor with consent of council
Created by City Ordinance Section 14 Offenses Article V. Trees.
The board shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the City Council of the City of Dublin, Georgia, and who shall be residents of Laurens County, but need not be residents of the City of Dublin, Georgia.
The board shall choose its own officers and keep minutes of all proceedings. A majority of the members present shall be a quorum for the transaction of business. Appropriate city staff as determined by the city manager shall assist and advise the board, and the board shall be authorized to engage third parties for technical assistance as needed.
The term of the seven (7) persons each board member shall be three (3) years, except that the term of four (4) members appointed to the first term after reconstitution of the board will be for one (1) year only, and the term of three (3) members of the reconstituted board shall be for two (2) years. If any board member is a city council elected official, that person's term shall end at the end of his/her term of office.

The board shall be responsible for the following activities:
- Receive and review requests for cutting or trimming "protected trees" and make a recommendation to the city manager regarding the same.
- Receive and review requests for planting trees, shrubbery, and other plantings by private individuals or entities in the right-of-way within the City of Dublin and make a recommendation to the city manager regarding the same.
- Develop a planting plan for trees, shrubbery, and other plantings for the beautification of parks, rights-of way, and publicly-owned or managed spaces within the City of Dublin, including the monitoring of new plantings to ensure thriving of the plantings.
- Provide tree-related education and information to the public, including participation in public events related to trees and outdoor beautification such as Arbor Day.
- Conduct any activities or make recommendations as necessary to maintain the City's status as a "Tree City USA" from the Arbor Day Foundation.
- Seek grants and federal, state, and private funds for the operation of the board and its activities.
- Attend training to further the education and skill set of board members as to the operating of the board and its activities.
